Q: How does Skin Essence Organics decide which ingredients to use?
A: All ingredients must meet our strict guidelines:
1. No artificial colors, fragrances or fillers
2. No GMOs (Genetically Modified Organism)
3. No water (used as a cheapfiller)
4. No petro-chemicals
5. No animal testing
6. No sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, DEAs, MEAs, or TEAs
7. Ingredients must be 100% natural-organic
8. All plant extracts and essential oils must be certified organic whenever possible
9. All essential oils used must be cold pressed or steam-distilled (not extracted with propylene glycol - which can damage the beneficial nutrients found in the oils)
10. All delicate plant oils must be extracted using the cold pressed methods to ensure the therapeutic and healing properties of plant oils are not damaged.
11. All ingredients must be proven to be benefit, heal and nourish the skin
12. All ingredients must be harvested in an environmentally friendly manner (wild-crafted)
13. When selecting suppliers, Fair-Trade ingredients must be considered wherever possible

Q: Do your products contain Parabens, Carcinogens or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate?
A: No. Skin Essence Organics products are entirely free of all parabens, carcinogens and sodium lauryl sulfate.

Q: Do your products contain synthetic preservatives?
A: No. Our entire line is derived solely for plant, fruit and vegetable extracts, essential oils and minerals. Since we use only the highest quality ingredients in our line, each one of our products are naturally stabilized and naturally well preserved.

Q: What is the shelf life of your products?
A: All products have a shelf life of 2 years unopened. Once opened, we suggest using the product within 6 months for optimum freshness.

Q: Does Skin Essence test on animals?
A: No. At Skin Essence we believe in ethical treatment for all animals. None of our ingredients or products are tested on any animals.

Q: Why are your products packaged in tinted glass bottles?
A: Our product line is packaged in durable tinted glass which protects each unique ingredient from the effects of UV light, avoids leaching from chemicals found in plastics, and can be fully recycled.

Q: Why are your moisturizers in serum form instead of cream?
A: Our moisturizers are in serum form, because it allows the extracts, essential oils and minerals to remain in their natural state. By leaving them raw, our serums are extremely nutritional and beneficial for the skin. Serums offer a deep hydration for the skin, allowing the vitamins minerals and enzymes to feed skin cells the nutrients they need to look their best. Traditional “cream” moisturizers are not the best method of hydrating the skin, because creams tend to only moisturize the top layer of skin (epidermis) and often dry out on the surface of the skin within a few minutes of applications. Waxes found in creams can also clog pores leading to breakouts.

Q: Do I need to use a toner with your line?
A: The great thing is, each one of our moisturizers (serums) contain organic extracts that have natural toning properties. The cold pressed rosehip seed oil that is used in our moisturizers actually helps to minimize pores as well as stimulate skin cell renewal; due to the rich amount of omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids found in it. The carrot tissue extract that we use contains a vast amount of beta carotene that helps to feed skin cells and balance pigment.

Since each one of our products are derived solely from plant, fruit, vegetable and flower extracts, essential oils and minerals, they contain a wide array of vitamins minerals and enzymes that effectively "feed the skin" what it needs to naturally tone itself.

Q: Do the serums leave your skin oily?
A: The delicate extracts found in our serums have been chosen to ensure that no residue is left behind. The extracts are absorbed into all 3 layers of the skin; which not only provides deep moisture, but allows the vitamins, minerals and enzymes to effectively heal and nurture delicate skin cells.

Q: Why do you not use water in your formulations?
A: At Skin Essence, we view water as a cheap way to fill a product; instead, we prefer to fill our products with nutritionally rich ingredients that offer our valued customers the highest quality product, with the most beneficial results possible. Each one of our unique products is packed full of beneficial vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

Q: Are Skin Essence ingredients fair trade?
A: YES, Our ingredients are obtained from suppliers that adhere to strict quality protocols, and ensure the fair treatment of indigenous and global peoples.

Q: I am very particular about what I put on my skin and watch every ingredient. Are you lists of ingredients complete?
A: Yes, in fact, we guarantee it! At Skin Essence we take pride in our 100% natural formulations free chemicals and other harmful additives. We believe so much in complete transparency that even our bottles and labels are transparent. We make sure all ingredients are listed on the packaging in English and French, because we have nothing to hide!

Q: Do you have products for sensitive skin, prone to rosacea and/or eczema?
A: Yes. We have spent over a decade creating delicate skin care options for those with sensitivities.

Soothe- Facial Moisturizer (Sensitive Skin)     
This serum is a nutrient enriched moisturizing blend of organic extracts, minerals and essential oils. Soothe is a great hydrating serum for all skin types especially skin that is sensitive or reacts easily. The vast amount of rosehip found in this blend aids in skin cell renewal, a process which slows as we age, keeping the skin youthful and vibrant while other key ingredients such as galbanum and sage both have amazing healing and soothing properties.

Pure (Gentle Facial cleanser)
Pure is a gentle facial cleanser that has been specifically designed to effectively clean the skin without leaving it feeling dried or damaged. The various extracts and minerals found in this amazing blend help to remove, not only dirt and oils that can irritate the skin and lead to break-outs, but also works great in removing light make-up.

Nurture- (Softening Mineral Mask)
A skin softening mineral mask derived from a variety of organic minerals, clays and dried flowers. By uniting these various key ingredients, Nurture effectively soothes, heals and softens the skin.

E-Cream  (Eczema, Psoriasis & Itchy Skin)
E-Cream is a skin treatment balm that contains a delicately balanced blend of various plant extracts including; gotu kola, chickweed, calendula flower, and nettle leaf that successfully treats many skin ailments.  An excellent alternative to cortisone, 100% Natural-Organic E-Cream has amazing results treating eczema, psoriasis, rashes, and itchy skin.

Nourish- Facial Moisturizer (Combination - Aging Skin) 
The nourishing extracts and minerals that have been carefully selected for this serum are very beneficial for combination skin types, that may also be damaged or aging. The abundant amount of Rosehip and Neroli used in this serum are phenomenal for stimulating and rejuvenating skin cells, while also nourishing the skins vital capillaries. Since this serum contains a rich amount of vitamin C, it is effective in stimulating collagen production in the dermis, thus improving the skin’s elasticity. Neroli- Facial Moisturizer  (Dry or Aging Skin)

Chocolate Mandarin (Hand & Body Balm)

Exfoliating regularly improves skin’s elasticity and its ability to absorb moisture and retain the rich nutrients found in each one of our serums. The various active ingredients in this formulation also help to heal, nourish and soften the skin
